The Palace and Forest of La Serreta is one of the oldest noble estates in Europe. Located in the province of Segovia, it covers an area of 602 hectares and is surrounded by 37,000 hectares of protected state forest.
Although the first settlements date back to the 12th century, it was not until the second half of the 15th century that the estate was set aside as an exclusive hunting reserve. The castle was rebuilt in 1464, and converted into a palace ten years before Isabella the Catholic was proclaimed Queen of Castile in Segovia. This was the great hunting lodge of the first Duke of Alburquerque, Don Beltrán de la Cueva.
Between 1464 and 2023 this impressive estate has only changed hands three times.
